1 Pain is the most common problem: including abutment pain and soft tissue pain, abutment pain is often caused by excessive force or lateral external force on the clasp. Soft tissue pain is mostly due to the long and sharp edges of the base, small tumors on the surface of the base, and also because the alveolar ridge has bone tips, bony prominences, and bony ridges, which form tissue undercuts, the covering mucosa is thin, and the dentures are crowded. It is caused by the sinking of the pressure base and the abrasion of the pointed crest.
2 Poor retention and stability, mainly as follows: ① bounce, the snap ring does not enter the undercut area of the abutment; ② warping, swinging, up and down movement, the reason is that the snap ring body does not fit the base, and the retainer is indirectly retained Improper placement, the occlusal rest, the snap ring forms a fulcrum on the tooth surface, and the snap ring has no retention force; ③ The base does not fit closely with the tissue, and the edge is not well sealed; ④ The abutment crown is small or conical. Poor retention; ⑤ Improper arrangement of artificial teeth, warping during occlusion; ⑥ Too long base edge, affecting soft tissue activity.
3 The poor masticatory function of dentures may be related to the poor shape of the occlusal surface of the artificial teeth, poor occlusion of the dentures, too low vertical distance, and poor conditions of the abutment and alveolar ridge.
4. Difficulty in removing and wearing: The clasp is too tight, the base is close to the tooth surface, the base is not buffered enough in the undercut area, and the patient does not master the direction and method of dentures, which can cause difficulty in removing and wearing.
5 Food impaction: There is impaction and retained food between the denture and the tissue, the original base does not fit closely with the tissue, the snap ring does not fit the abutment, and there is a gap between the base and the natural teeth, which can cause food impaction.
6. Indistinct pronunciation: After wearing dentures, the oral space is reduced, the tongue movement is limited, and there is temporary discomfort, which often causes dysphonia. You can get used to it after a period of training.
7 Buccal bite and tongue mucosa: The upper and lower posterior teeth are too small to bite the cheek, and the mandibular posterior teeth are arranged on the lingual side or the occlusal plane is too low to cause tongue bite.
8 Nausea and increased saliva: When wearing maxillary removable dentures, nausea is caused due to excessive extension of the posterior edge of the base, too thick, or the posterior edge of the base does not fit the mucosa, and there is saliva stimulation between the two. Saliva is mostly caused by not being used to it.
9 Aesthetic problems: There may be aesthetic problems due to factors such as snap rings.
