Precautions for initial use
1. When the denture is first inserted into the mouth, there may be increased saliva, unclear pronunciation, poor retention, and nausea. This is a common phenomenon. After a period of adaptation and modification, the above phenomenon can generally disappear gradually.
2. If you have pain after wearing the denture for the first time, you should go to the hospital for a follow-up consultation in time. Before going to the hospital, it is best to wear the denture for at least two hours, so that the doctor can check and analyze the cause of the pain.
3. When you first wear dentures and start eating, soft food, a small amount, and chew slowly. Gradually eat normal food. Hard foods should not be eaten.
4. Take out your dentures every day before going to bed
Maintenance Precautions
1. Clean
1) After eating every day, the dentures should be taken out and rinsed with water to avoid affecting the health of the oral mucosa.
2) When going to bed at night, take out the dentures and wash them with a toothbrush and soak them in cold water to keep the dentures clean.
3) For cleaning, soft-bristled toothbrushes, cotton towels and soap should be used, and toothpaste should not be used. You can also use special denture cleaning tablets/liquid and 75% medical alcohol for cleaning and soaking, but pay attention to rinse with running water after use to remove residual liquid. Chemicals should not be used for treatment.
2. Wear time
1) Dentures should generally be worn every day. If the dentures are not used for several days or longer, the dentures may not be inserted.
2) Under normal circumstances, it needs to be replaced or revised every 5 years. After using removable dentures, go to the hospital for review every year. If the dentures do not fit with the oral tissues, or the dentures are severely worn, the patient may not be able to perceive them, but they still need to be replaced or modified.
